The short answer
Sub-Zero Appliance Experts repairs gas, electric, and induction cooktops in Los Angeles homes, including Viking, Wolf, and Thermador models. We diagnose the cause on site, explain it plainly, and replace many common parts on the first visit.
Sub-Zero Appliance Experts repairs high-end cooktops in homes across Los Angeles, from condos and apartments near downtown to houses in the neighborhoods south and west of it. Many of the kitchens we work in were designed around a Sub-Zero refrigerator, with a Viking, Wolf, or Thermador cooktop beside it. When a burner won't light, an element stays cold, or an induction zone shows an error code, we come to your home, find the cause, and fix it with the right parts. We're an independent repair company based in North Hollywood, about 10 miles north of the city, and cooktops are a large share of our work.
Cooktop problems we repair in Los Angeles kitchens
Most cooktop calls fall into a handful of patterns. Each has a few likely causes, and the fix depends on which one we find, so we test before we replace anything.
Viking, Wolf, and Thermador each build their burners and controls differently. Thermador's star-shaped burners, Wolf's dual-stacked sealed burners, and Viking's high-output burners all have their own parts and adjustment points, and we work on each of them.
- Gas burners that click but won't light, usually from a dirty or cracked igniter, a misaligned burner cap, or a weak spark module
- Constant clicking after the flame is lit, often caused by moisture or spills around a switch or igniter
- Uneven, yellow, or lifting flames that point to clogged burner ports or an air and gas mix that needs adjusting
- Electric radiant elements that won't heat or won't turn off, which can trace back to an element, a switch, or a relay on the control board
- Induction zones that don't detect the pan, cut out mid-cook, or display error codes
- Cracked glass-ceramic surfaces and damaged knobs, bezels, or touch controls
- A smell of gas near the cooktop, which needs immediate attention before any other troubleshooting

How a cooktop repair visit works
We start by asking what you've noticed: when the problem began, whether it affects one burner or all of them, and whether anything was spilled or cleaned recently. That history often narrows things down before we pick up a tool.
Next we test the cooktop itself. On gas models that means checking spark, gas flow, and flame quality at each burner. On electric and induction models we check power at the unit, test elements and coils, and read any error codes the control board has stored. Once we know the cause, we explain it in plain terms, tell you what part is needed, and let you decide how to proceed.
Many common parts, such as igniters, switches, and burner components, can be replaced on the first visit. Model-specific boards and glass tops sometimes have to be ordered, and when that happens we tell you what to expect and schedule a return trip.
Serving Los Angeles and nearby cities
Our technicians drive into Los Angeles regularly from North Hollywood. We cover homes in ZIP codes 90002, 90003, 90004, 90005, 90006, 90007, 90008, 90010, 90011, and 90012, along with the surrounding parts of Los Angeles County.
We also work in Culver City, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and Inglewood, so if you own more than one property or manage several kitchens, the same team can handle them.
City living shapes how cooktops wear. In older buildings and compact kitchens, cooktops often sit close to cabinets and windows, and grease and dust build up faster around the burners. During hot, dry summers and fall Santa Ana wind spells, many people cook less on the stovetop, and a burner that sat unused for weeks may be slow to light when it's needed again. A cleaning and inspection usually sorts that out.

What to do before we arrive
A little preparation helps us diagnose faster and keeps your household safe in the meantime.
- If you smell gas, stop using the cooktop, shut off the gas supply if you can do so safely, open windows, and contact your gas utility or emergency services before calling us
- Find the model and serial number, often on a label under the cooktop, on the underside of the control panel, or in the owner's manual
- Note which burners or zones are affected and write down any error codes
- Avoid harsh cleaners or metal scrapers on glass-ceramic and induction surfaces, which can make cracks worse
- Clear the cabinet space below the cooktop so we can reach the gas line, wiring, and controls
Repair or replace?
Premium cooktops are built to be serviced, and most problems we see are worth repairing. Burners, igniters, switches, and even control boards can be swapped out without replacing the whole unit, which keeps a cooktop that fits your countertop cutout and matches the rest of your kitchen.
Replacement makes more sense when parts are no longer available for an older model or when several major components fail at once. If we reach that point, we'll tell you directly and explain why, so you can plan with real information.
