The short answer
Most wall oven problems, including no heat, uneven baking, error codes, and stuck door locks, come from a sensor, heating element, control board, fan, or latch, and a repair is usually worthwhile on a high-end built-in unit. We diagnose Wolf, Viking, and Thermador wall ovens in Sub-Zero kitchens and others around North Hollywood. We explain the fault and your options before any work begins.
A wall oven that won't heat, runs hot, or locks its door after a self-clean cycle can throw off a whole kitchen. We repair built-in single, double, and combination wall ovens for homeowners in North Hollywood, Studio City, Burbank, Toluca Lake, Sherman Oaks, Valley Village, and nearby cities. Many of the kitchens we visit pair Sub-Zero refrigeration with a Wolf wall oven from the same family of brands, and we also work on Viking and Thermador ovens. Our technicians diagnose the actual fault, explain what they found in plain terms, and tell you whether a repair makes sense before any work starts. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with any appliance manufacturer.
Issues we fix
These are the wall oven problems homeowners call us about most often. If your oven shows one of these, note what it was doing when the problem started, such as preheating, broiling, running convection, or finishing a self-clean. That detail helps us narrow down the cause.
- Oven won't heat, or heats very slowly
- Temperature runs noticeably hotter or cooler than the setting
- Uneven baking, with burnt edges and underdone centers
- Broiler doesn't glow or only heats partway
- Convection fan is noisy, slow, or not turning
- Error codes or a blank, flickering, or unresponsive control panel
- Door stays locked after self-clean, or won't lock to start one
- Door doesn't close fully, sags, or lets heat escape around the gasket
- Cooling fan runs constantly or not at all
- Oven light, probe, or keypad buttons not working
- Breaker trips when the oven is turned on

What our technician checks on a built-in or professional-style oven
A wall oven sits inside cabinetry, so a good diagnosis starts before anything comes out of the wall. The technician confirms the symptom, reads any stored fault codes, and checks incoming power at the oven's supply. Many "dead oven" calls turn out to be a tripped breaker or a loose connection at the junction box.
From there, we test the temperature sensor's resistance, check the bake, broil, and convection elements for continuity, and confirm that the control board and relays are sending power where they should. We check the door lock motor and switches, the hinges and gasket, and the cooling fan that protects the electronics. On ovens with steam or speed-cook functions, we also look at the water system or the added heating components. If the oven has to be pulled forward for access to the rear wiring, we protect the trim and surrounding cabinets first.
How Wolf, Viking, and Thermador wall ovens differ
Sub-Zero focuses on refrigeration, so in a Sub-Zero kitchen the wall oven is often a Wolf. Wolf wall ovens rely heavily on electronic touch controls and dual convection systems. The problems we see most on these units involve temperature sensors, convection fan motors, control boards, and door hinges that wear on heavy doors.
Viking wall ovens have a sturdy professional look and heavy doors. We commonly find worn hinges and gaskets, failed bake or broil elements, and relay or control board faults. On some units the cooling fan has also stopped working, which can cause the controls to shut down when the oven gets hot.
Thermador wall ovens, including combination and steam models, often come to us with door lock problems after a self-clean cycle, along with cooling fan and sensor faults. Steam models add water-related problems such as scale buildup and pump or fill issues. In hot valley summers, the cooling fan on any brand works harder, so a weak fan tends to show up then.

Repair or replace a high-end wall oven?
On a premium built-in oven, repair is usually the practical choice. The cutout in your cabinetry was sized for that specific unit, and a replacement from a different brand or generation may not fit without carpentry, trim changes, or electrical work. Sensors, elements, fans, hinges, gaskets, and door locks are routine repairs that can return a solid oven to reliable service.
Replacement starts to make sense when the oven has several major failures at once, when the interior shows cracked enamel or a rusted cavity, or when key parts such as a discontinued control board are no longer available. We tell you which situation you're in and leave the decision to you.
What affects the cost of wall oven repair
We don't quote over the phone without seeing the oven, because the same symptom can have very different causes. A slow-heating oven might need a sensor or might need a control board. Once the technician has diagnosed the problem, you'll get a clear explanation of the repair before any work begins.
The main factors are the fault itself, the parts involved, and access. A sensor or element is a different job than a main control board or a door lock assembly. Parts for premium brands vary in cost and availability. Access matters too: an oven in tight custom cabinetry, a double oven stack, or a combination unit takes more time to remove and reinstall safely than one with standard clearances.
How a service visit works
When you contact us, tell us the brand, the model if you can find it on the label inside the door frame, and what the oven is doing. That lets the technician bring likely parts and arrive prepared.
At the visit, the technician diagnoses the problem, explains what failed and why, and walks you through your options. If the needed part is on the truck, the repair can often be finished the same day. If it has to be ordered, we schedule a return visit. Before leaving, we run the oven through a test cycle to confirm it heats properly and that the controls and door work as they should.
